Certain takeovers, in particular Chinese involvement in the Hinkley Point nuclear power plant, have been eyed with suspicion by the UK government, who see such industries as \u2018sensitive\u2019 and related to national security.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Others are concerned that key technologies are being acquired by Chinese companies too easily. Under the new rules the government will have the right to intervene if foreign businesses are seeking to purchase certain technologies or intellectual properties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given the UK\u2019s need for international trade deals outside of Europe following Brexit, combining protectionism and simultaneously remaining open to investment could be a difficult balance to maintain for the UK going forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Smoking Air China pilot causes cabin to depressurise by \u2018accidentally\u2019 turning off air conditioning<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An Air China pilot caused a plane to drop <a href=\"https:\/\/jingtravel.com\/smoking-air-china-pilot-to-lead-to-major-losses-for-company\/?utm_source=Jing+Travel&amp;utm_campaign=c7caf5c1b8-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_7_18_2018&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_5fb5a8e57f-c7caf5c1b8-38203059\">7620 metres in 10 minutes<\/a> this month when he tried to hide the fact he was smoking in the cockpit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The pilot attempted to turn off a circulation fan to prevent the smoke from his e-cigarette entering the cabin, but instead turned off the air conditioning system, causing the plane to depressurise, before eventually regaining altitude.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both pilots have been fired, whilst Air China has been fined 50,000 RMB and its flight capacity cut by 10% on certain flights, which may have a significant impact on short-term profits going forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regardless, thanks to the sheer demand of Chinese travellers, Air China <a href=\"https:\/\/jingtravel.com\/air-china-projected-to-overtake-delta-as-most-valuable-airline-but-challenges-loom\/?utm_source=Jing+Travel&amp;utm_campaign=2492d8a0e0-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_7_13_2018&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_5fb5a8e57f-2492d8a0e0-38203059\">is predicted to become the world\u2019s most valuable airline<\/a> in the next three years, overtaking US based Delta Airlines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Chinese hotel trials using face recognition to check-in guests<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China has once again shown its pioneering nature with its development of AI, with one hotel chain in China trialling a system where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hotelmanagement.net\/tech\/marriott-alibaba-trial-facial-recognition-at-china-hotels?utm_source=Jing+Travel&amp;utm_campaign=2492d8a0e0-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_7_13_2018&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_5fb5a8e57f-2492d8a0e0-38203059\">guests can check in using only their face<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Marriott and Alibaba are working together on the venture, which trialled at two Chinese hotels this month with the aim of expanding the use of the system worldwide. The aim is to make the check-in process for guests as seamless and easy as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China is already on the way to becoming a cashless society, with its use of mobile payments dominating in most sectors of society. Chinese citizens are often early adopters and infamously open to new ideas; one study shoes 60 percent of Chinese travellers favour use of facial recognition technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Meanwhile&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A new 250 acre solar power plant has been built in China &#8211; \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/uk.businessinsider.com\/china-panda-solar-power-plant-2017-7?r=US&amp;IR=T\">in the shape of a giant panda<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plant, named the \u2018Panda Power Plant\u2019, will eliminate nearly a million tonnes of coal use, as well as bringing a smile to a lot of people\u2019s faces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plant is expected to grow to cover 1000 acres when completed, and further pandas are set to be included in future development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Want to receive a monthly UK-China update to your inbox?
