Operations Manager & Tour Guide

6-month contract [with potential extension of 12 months]

Location: London

£20,000 per annum [Pro rata]

At Beiwei 55 we are looking for talented individuals to work for us as tour guides and operations managers on a full-time basis. If you are a native British Mandarin speaker with bundles of enthusiasm, excellent people and organisational skills and high levels of spoken, written and aural Chinese which you want to use within your work, then read on.

In your joint role as operations manager and tour guide you will be responsible for leading tours in Mandarin Chinese in and around the London region. Full training is provided and all guiding locations are commutable from our London office. When not leading tours you will be working from our London office on incoming enquiries and assisting with tour itinerary design, organisation and execution, amongst other tasks, to help develop the business.

This role is initially a full-time six month contract, with the potential of a twelve month extension at the end of the six months and a subsequent full-time contract following this.

Us

We are the first UK tour operator to provide tours to Chinese visitors that are run and guided by native British Mandarin speakers. Our approach is unique, offering our Chinese customers the best of both worlds – access to the knowledge and insight of a local, but all in the comfort of their own native language.

We specialise in half-day city walking tours in ten locations around the UK, suitable for any Chinese visitor, as well as longer tours for Chinese youth groups giving them the chance to interact with a local British Mandarin-speaking guide, practice their English, ask questions and get closer to British culture. We are able to organise bespoke UK sightseeing tours, university tours and work tours for Chinese school or student groups.

We also provide professional Mandarin interpreting and translation services for UK businesses and attractions who want to improve their Chinese offering, cater to incoming Chinese corporate guests or make their businesses more Chinese friendly and attract more Chinese business.

You will be joining a small but growing company, unique in its offering and recently named by Visit England as one of the top four UK-China companies in the UK.

Our Mission: We want to provide Chinese visitors with a local and authentic experience in the destinations they visit. We want to be a bridge between China and the rest of the world – breaking down language barriers, increasing cross-cultural understanding and increasing communication between people of different countries.
