FAQs

  • What should I bring on my Experience Tour?

Our Experience Tours are ideal for those who want to go face to face with British history and culture. On each tour guests have the chance to get involved in a range of fun and interactive activities. Some activities are more active than others, and we ask that you dress sensibly for the activities you have chosen. We recommend that you bring the following with you: comfortable shoes for day-to-day walking, hiking boots for walks in the countryside, a waterproof coat and an umbrella, warm clothes in winter, thinner layers in summer, a small day bag to carry your valuables and any snacks or drinks you may like while touring. While we encourage guests to bring a camera or phone to capture all of the great moments on tour, we also recommend that you keep valuables to a minimum and cannot take responsibility for any items you have with you on your tour.
  • When is the best time to go on an Experience Tour?

Our experience tours run all year round, so when you go is largely up to you and the experience you wish to have! Winter (December – February) can be a lovely time to see Britain at its most atmospheric, and December in particular is great for a Christmas experience. Bear in mind, however, that this is the coldest time of year. The landscape in Autumn (September – November) can be wonderfully vibrant and colourful, with the leaves turning red and golden brown. During this period attractions tend to be less busy, but the weather can still be pleasant, particularly in September. The weather is usually warmer in Spring (March – May) and the days are longer in Summer (June – August). Generally speaking, July and August are the hottest months on the calendar but also some of the busiest, due to British school summer holidays. Please also bear in mind that at certain times of year some of the activities on our tours may not be available due to low-season opening times at attractions (usually from November to March). Of course, we would notify you of this before you book and can propose alternatives during these times.
  • What if the weather is bad?

The British weather is famously unpredictable and it's been said that it is the only place in the world “where you can have four seasons in one day”. As a result we ask guests to prepare for any weather. We are happy to carry out activities as long as conditions are safe, but reserve the right to alter itineraries should weather conditions become dangerous. If bad weather means activities are not possible we will attempt to provide an alternative activity, or allow you time at your leisure if there are no suitable alternatives.
